Ships access the lagoon through the two harbour entrances“: Lido San Nicolò for access to the Ferry Terminal, whereferries to Greece and Turkey dock and Malamocco for access to Porto Marghera, where commercial traffic is concentrated, and where large cruise ships also dock. The Lido Harbour St Nicholas, It owes its name to the nearby Church of San Nicolò, where the relics of the patron saint of sailors are kept, and it was also customary here, in the waters facing the church, to hold the traditional Ceremony of the Marriage of the Sea during the Feast of the Ascension.
