Toast, an ancient city, considered one of the largest natural harbours in the Mediterranean Sea, is defined as the “Gateway to the East” at a crossroads of cultures and peoples. During the Roman period, it became an important port of call with nearby Greece and the East, and was connected to Rome by the Appian Way and the Trajan Way. Its history is always closely linked to the importance of its harbour. Its historic centre is of great interest.

Within the territorial area of the municipality of Brindisi, there are also important protected environmental areas (Torre Guaceto State Nature Reserve).

The port is divided into three basins: one port, “internal or tourist”, assigned mainly to ferry traffic, a “medium” port, intended for commercial and passenger traffic activities, and an ”external” port, with a mainly industrial vocation.

Ferries depart from the port of Brindisi for Greece (Corfu, Igoumenitsa, Patras, Kefalonia and Zakynthos) and Albania (Vlorë and Sarandë), and Montenegro. Departures from Brindisi to Igoumenitsa, Patras and Vlorë are available all year round. The journey to Corfu takes approximately 9.5 hours and 8.5-12 hours to reach the port of Igoumenitsa. With regard to the Brindisi-Patras route, there are two weekly departures, every Monday and Saturday, with conventional ships, taking 17 hours.
STP shuttle services are available if you arrive from the airport. There is also an internal shuttle to reach the boarding areas.

Documents and Visas

For entry, stay, or transit in Italy, you must be in possession of a passport or of one another travel document recognised by the Italian Government. For EU citizens, No entry visa required. Animals Travelling

    The port of Brindisi can be reached by car or public transport.
