Positano

Positano is a municipality in the province of Salerno, located on the Amalfi Coast, an important UNESCO World Heritage site. A holiday resort since the Roman Empire era. During the Middle Ages, numerous fortified towers were built for spotting Saracens. Its oldest tower is that of the Bank. The tourist boom occurred after the Second World War, but despite intense development, Positano has managed to retain its peculiar characteristic of vertical city with its many staircases that descend from the top of the village to the beaches that give way to crystal-clear waters, the terraces bursting with the colours and scents of citrus fruits, the cliffs that offer breathtaking views, and the enchanting hilltop villages. The landscape of Positano has captivated travellers from every country and of every kind. Marina Grande Beach and that of Bake, are among the best-known beaches, both reachable on foot.

Located in front of Marina Grande beach, there are the islands Li Galli which together with Emerald Grotto, about ten kilometres from the town (Conca dei Marini), are part of an itinerary of great natural beauty.
