Civitavecchia, with its ancient origins, overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea, a short distance from Rome, the capital.. The Port of Civitavecchia is divided into two areasone intended for trade, coastal shipping and fishing; another intended for cruise ships and recreational boating. Ferries depart from the southern part of the port area, where there are numerous quays and terminals assigned to the companies: Grimaldi Lines, Tirrenia, etc. The destinations to Italian ports are: Olbia, Porto Torres, Cagliari, Palermo; foreign ports of call are: Barcelona, Tunis.
