Barcelona is the oldest port city in Spain and is the capital of Catalonia. It is the largest industrial and financial centre in Spain, after Madrid, as well as the largest commercial and tourist port among the major ones in Europe. The most fascinating districts of Barcelona are the Gothic Quarter Gothic and the Raval, near the port area.
