Balearic Islands

Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands are found in the Mediterranean Sea, off the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula and are composed of four main islands: Menorca Menorca, Majorca (Majorca), Ibiza e Formentera, and other smaller islands.
Increasingly popular year on year, they are beloved by every tourist for their varied and complete offering: each island indeed has its own distinct personality and is suited to a different type of holiday: Majorca, the largest island, is perfect for those who want to alternate days by the sea with interesting excursions and cultural visits; Ibiza is suited to those who love the most fashionable and transgressive nightlife; Minorca is the island for nature lovers and Formentera is the ideal place for those who want to escape the crowds.

Vehicles in transit

In Spain, both an Italian driving licence and insurance policy are considered valid for driving. If you drive a car that does not belong to you abroad, it is advisable to have a letter of authorization from the owner to drive, with an authenticated signature. It is compulsory to use seat belts, approved car seats for children and high-visibility reflective vest, in compliance with EU regulations. For riding motorcycles over 125cc, it is mandatory to have hard hat. Please note that checks at the land border between Gibraltar and Spain (La Línea de la Concepción) can still be particularly thorough. Pay attention to driving regulations. Spain has introduced a points-based driving licence with strict checks. Motorways are toll roads; payment can be made at the toll booths using cash or credit card.

Animals Travelling

In Spain, dogs, cats, and ferrets under three months old are not permitted entry because they have not yet been vaccinated against rabies. To travel, you need a EU passport with active rabies vaccination and one Cash on delivery (microchip or a legible tattoo). Spanish law regulates potentially dangerous dog breeds and their crosses (Pitbull terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, Dogo argentino, etc.) for which an administrative license issued or renewed by the competent municipal body is required; one must be of legal age, have no criminal record, and be insured with a civil liability policy.
