Ancona lies on the coast of the’Central Adriatic. Among the first things you'll notice along the city's port area is the Mole Vanvitelliana (O Lazzaretto), a/an’Port operation designed and built by the renowned architect Vanvitelli in 1733; the building has been erected on a pentagonal artificial island. Among other points of interest, we find the Small step, a rocky beach; in the district of the same name, there is the War Memorial. Another significant building is the Old lighthouse, on the Colle dei Cappuccini. Ancona is also home to the’Polytechnic University of Marche, of a National Archaeological Museum and of one theatreHe Theatre of the Muses
Ancona's is one of the main ports present in the Adriatic, with connections to Greece, Croatia and Albania. The port of Ancona consists of a series of piers from which ferry ships depart, reaching Croatia (Split) and Greece (Patras, Igoumenitsa, Corfu).

In the port of Ancona there are approximately 27 platforms, which are used for various functions, approximately 8 of these are assigned to ferries, including: Calata Guasco / Karol Wojtyla Pier / Santa Maria Pier / della Repubblica Quay (Vittorio Dock) / XXIX September Pier / Nazario Sauro Quay. Each company has its own designated quay. To check in, all ferry companies require passengers to go through the Maritime station / ticket office, located at Via Luigi Einaudi. The service Left luggage is managed by Dorica Port Services. The headquarters is located in the’to the west of the maritime station (Hello Santa Maria).
